Anxiety & Depression Therapy for Adults
Anxiety and depression are among the most common reasons adults seek therapy — and among the most treatable. They also frequently occur together, each making the other harder to manage. Anxiety keeps you on high alert, anticipating the worst. Depression drains the energy needed to cope with it. When both are present, it can feel like being simultaneously revved up and shut down. Whether you are struggling with one or both, effective treatment exists. With over 21 years of clinical experience and a collaborative, evidence-based approach, I help adults move from surviving to genuinely functioning — and, over time, thriving.
Depression therapy
Depression is not sadness. It is a pervasive dimming of motivation, pleasure, energy, and hope that can make even small tasks feel impossible. It distorts thinking — making negative outcomes seem certain and positive change seem pointless. And it often lies, telling you that nothing will help and that reaching out is not worth it.
It is worth it.
What I treat:
Major depressive disorder
Persistent depressive disorder (dysthymia)
Depression co-occurring with anxiety
Depression related to grief and loss
Depression related to life transitions or chronic illness
Low self-worth and chronic self-criticism
Anhedonia — the loss of pleasure in things you used to enjoy
My approach to depression draws on Behavioral Activation (a core CBT technique with robust research support), DBT skills including the PLEASE skill and Opposite Action, ACT-based values work to reconnect with what matters, and self-compassion practices to address the shame and self-criticism that depression amplifies.
Anxiety therapy
Anxiety is more than worry. It is a physiological state of threat response that can manifest as chronic tension, panic attacks, avoidance, social fear, or an inability to stop your mind from spinning through worst-case scenarios. Left untreated, anxiety tends to grow — because avoidance, the most natural response to fear, reinforces it.
What I treat:
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
Panic disorder and panic attacks
Social anxiety
Health anxiety
Perfectionism and fear of failure
Chronic worry and intolerance of uncertainty
Anxiety related to life transitions, relationships, or work
My approach draws primarily on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — the gold-standard treatment for anxiety — alongside Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) distress tolerance skills and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you relate to anxious thoughts differently, rather than fighting them endlessly.
How I work
My approach is collaborative and practical. I do not apply a one-size-fits-all method — we will figure out together what is actually driving your anxiety or depression and build a plan that fits your life.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 21 years of clinical experience, and I hold a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider (BC-TMH) credential reflecting specialized training in delivering effective care through digital platforms. All sessions are conducted via HIPAA-compliant teletherapy for adults in Georgia, Florida, Vermont, South Carolina and New Hampshire.
